What a weekend last weekend turned out to be. I’d be lying to you if I said I wasn’t worried a bit going into last weeks Rock Against Dystrophy fundraiser in New Jersey. But as everyone assured me prior then night went smoothly and was a huge success. A big thank you to A Need For Reason, Lords Of Mercy, and the newly dubbed RAD AllStars. For those who weren’t there the AllStars was made up of Mark Tornillo (TT Quick/Accept), David DiPietro (TT Quick), Bobby Blitz Ellsworth (Overkill), Bob Pantella (Monster Magnet), Scott Metaxas (Prophet), Danny Watts (BulletBoys), and John “Ace” Albino. All were absolutely amazing performances and some of the songs done by the RAD AllStars I’ll never hear again without thinking of their performance. Made some new friends that night and had a blast with everyone. And a big thank you to my brother TattooTony for getting the ball rolling on this show and my new friend Mark Tornillo for putting together the RAD AllStars.
This week is a busy one. Spoke by phone today with Bobby Blitz of Overkill for my show THE ASYLUM. Talked about the benefit and the new Overkill album White Devil Armory. You’ll hear the interview this coming Thursday 7/31 first on Bullspike Radio and then on my affiliates that week. I’ll also be talking with Michael Hannon of American Dog about their new album Neanderthal.
Tomorrow is a enjoyable day with my friends Joey James and Dagna along with mom as we’re off to see KISS and Def Leppard at PNC in New Jersey. Really looking forward to seeing Def Leppard for the first time and seeing KISS again. While I wish it was the original lineup performing in happy to support a band that’s music still works and means a lot to me today despite the lineup.
Wednesday I’ll be at Mayhem Festival at Jones Beach. Really excited as it’s my first show officially as press. One of many more to come. It’ll be my first time seeing Avenged Sevenfold and I’ve heard only good things about their live show and I’ve slowly begun becoming a fan of theirs with their last two studio albums. I could definitely see them taking the banner and running with it for the next generation of rockers and metalheads.
If you’re looking for new music this week these three should be on your buy list:
White Devil Armory – Overkill
Do You Wanna Start A War? – Fozzy
One Blood – Downset
