DAY6 Release Music Video & 5th Mini Album
Korean Rock Band, DAY6’s 5th Mini Album The Book of Us : Gravity was released worldwide simultaneously today. Upon release, #Day6 and #The_Book_of_Us both trended Worldwide on Twitter. The Book of Us : Gravity is a kick off to their 2nd World Tour, which will expand their scale to a total of 26 cities and 31 performances, further solidifying their presence here in the states. This album, a new release from the band in 7 months, continues to record DAY6’s journey through youth. A band known for experimenting with different sounds, The Book of Us : Gravity features a variety of genres, while still sticking to their own unique style. The album illuminates on the undeniable attraction between two people, to further exploring one’s true self. Each individual track captivates the audience by weaving the stories of youth into different pages, in “The Book of Us”.
Inspired by the pop-punk bands of their youth (Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, and We The Kings, to name a few), DAY6 tells MTV News that “‘Time of Our Life’ is about human relationships.” Consisting of 6 new tracks, “For me”, “Time of Our Life”, “How to love”, “Wanna Go Back”,“Cover”, and “Best Part”; Vocalist and Bassist, Young K, is credited in writing lyrics for every track, with Main Vocalist and Rhythm Guitarist, SUNGJIN, jumping in to participate in writing “Cover.” Members Jae, Young K, SUNGJIN, and WONPIL, are also credited for their participation composing all tracks throughout the album. Vocalist and Keyboardist, WONPIL, expresses that “this album is a new start for DAY6,” with Drummer DOWOON adding “this album reveals our new color (individuality) that we have never shown before.”
“After the completion of our first world tour, we came to a collective realization that we’d like to incorporate more “Concert-Fueled” music in our archives. So, through the lens of DAY6 during our beautiful year, we present to you, Gravity” says Vocalist and Lead Guitarist, Jae, proudly.
The title track, “Time of Our Life,” contains “hope and confidence towards the beginning of a relationship. It suggests that we write down the memories in our book of life” states Young K. The track further relates to the time spent together, from now on as one book, and suggests “Let’s try and make this moment a beautiful page.” SUNGJIN adds, “I hope that everyone who listens to our music will write down a page of beautiful youth, together.”
Named by Alternative Press as one of the “10 Bands For K-Pop Fans Looking For Something Different” the publication hailed the bands success, stating “With a sound that blends elements of soft-rock ballads and pop-punk anthems, the band have earned their spot in becoming one of the more popular groups in the Korean rock scene.” With an appearance on Good Day New York end of last year, Refinery 29 also listed their previous album as one of “The 12 Best K-Pop Albums of 2018”.
