Swedish metallers NIGHTRAGE are set to release the single “Affliction” today via Despotz Records. Pulled from the band’s upcoming full length, The Venemous, the new single sees the band at it’s hardest hitting and most melodic in their fifteen year history. The band has teamed up with leading American website Metal Underground for a premiere of the song
The band says of the track, “‘Affliction” has depth and character and is 100% Nightrage. We believe it has the potential to become a fan favourite. With “Affliction” we wanted to express a more melodic and diverse side to our song writing, without losing the heaviness that Nightrage is well known for. The concept behind the track “Affliction” is focused on mankind´s endless search to find a meaning to our empty lives. Lives that we feel we can not control, and therefore we seek to find a greater purpose to our existence.”
The Venemous is a relentless tale of extinction, told with as much venomous aggression as there are intriguing and mesmerizing melodies. Memorable hooks and some of the catchiest choruses that metal has seen in decades does nothing to compromise the brutality and honesty that NIGHTRAGE is known for. The music is catchy and extreme. Lyrically the album deals with the failure of mankind and how we as human beings are racing towards our own extinction.
