SPIRITBOX Release Intimate Live Session of “The Mara Effect” in Full
Spiritbox have recently released a live session of “The Mara Effect” trilogy, which comes off their Self-Titled 2017 EP. The 16 and a half minute long video composed of all three parts of “The Mara Effect” was filmed at Silverside Sound in Cobble Hill, BC.
Courtney LaPlante told us, “We wanted to challenge ourselves by playing our 16-minute trilogy in one take, for people to be able to watch in the highest quality format we could deliver. Our guitarist Michael took on the daunting task of editing the footage and mixing the song.” LaPlante goes on to say, “Being a relatively new name in this industry, fighting for our opportunity to tour, our attitudes with this video were, “Screw it, let’s bring this intimate live setting to our listeners and have it permanently online so people can watch and re-watch at their own convenience.” This 3 part song is one long story, so being able to have it presented in this way is very exciting for us.”
Having toured the world as members of the eccentric metal band iwrestledabearonce, vocalist Courtney LaPlante and guitarist Michael Stringer wanted to take their intensely personal and technical musical focus in a new creative and personal direction. Spiritbox was the result.
In 2017, the husband and wife duo sent their unreleased debut Self-Titled EP to Bill Crook of the Vancouver pop-punk band Living with Lions hoping only for constructive criticism. Instead, they found themselves with a new bandmate and best friend. Together, this Canadian trio has set out to bring a new and refreshing perspective to metal.
