12022603_1046903035327929_3506225344395829241_oLast year we all heard news of a health scare for the mighty Lemmy of Motörhead but he said he was just fine. This was the case as they delivered Bad Magic, their latest studio album, earlier this year. That was followed by a summer tour that Lemmy had health issues with on early dates but he got through it and rocked on.

It was sadly confirmed just moments ago by Eddie Trunk that the mighty Lemmy has died at the age of 70.

Here’s the official statement from Motörhead:

There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.

We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words.

We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD.

Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister

Born to lose, lived to win.

Lemmy definitely lived the rockstar dream all the way. Only recently switching from his trademark Jack & Coke to vodka and OJ for “health reasons”. Sadly there is no encore, the rock and metal world has definitely lost one of its loudest members.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends, family, band mates, and countless fans.
